Why AppScreen Pro is $9, paid once
A screenshot tool you open a few times a year shouldn't bill you every month. What Free includes, what Pro adds, and how refunds work.

AppScreen Pro costs $9. You pay once and keep it. There's no monthly plan, no annual plan and no renewal email.
Here's why, what Free and Pro each include, and how refunds work.
Screenshot tools aren't daily tools
You open a screenshot editor when you launch, when you ship a big feature, and maybe when you redesign. For most indie apps that's a few times a year. Then the tool sits closed for months.
A subscription for that pattern means you either pay for months you don't use, or you cancel and resubscribe every time you ship. Both are annoying. One subscription-based tool in this space says in its own FAQ that people who need it once should buy a month and cancel the renewal. That's a fair answer for a subscription product. I wanted a product where that question doesn't come up.
So Pro is a one-time unlock. You pay when you need it, and it's still there next spring when you ship 2.0.
What Free includes
Free needs no account. You open the editor and start. Your work stays in your browser, and the canvas isn't uploaded.
- 3 projects, saved in your browser
- Up to 5 slides per panorama
- 1 saved preset
- iPhone frames
- Solid and gradient backgrounds
- Export of the full panorama and each slide
Five iPhone slides at 1284 × 2778 is a complete App Store set for a lot of apps. You can ship with Free.
What Pro adds
.appscreen.json filesPro is tied to the Google account you buy with, so it follows you to any browser where you sign in. The project file matters if you work on more than one machine, or want a backup outside the browser.
The agent part lets Claude, Cursor, Codex, VS Code or ChatGPT build your panorama in your open editor tab while you watch. I wrote about that in a separate post.
When watermarks show up
On Free you can still put iPad frames, pattern backgrounds and extra slides on the canvas. An export gets a watermark only when the design uses a Pro feature. iPad frames and slides past the fifth get watermarked. Pattern backgrounds are left out of free exports. Stay inside the free features and your exports are clean.
That lets you see exactly what Pro does on your own screenshots before you pay.
Refunds
Because the free plan exists so you can try AppScreen first, Pro sales are final. The terms cover two exceptions.
- Billing errors. A duplicate charge, or a checkout that failed but still charged you.
- Pro never worked for you. Email [email protected] within 7 days of purchase. If Pro never worked on your account, a refund can be considered.
That second one no longer applies once you've used Pro for real, like downloading a project file, exporting without the free watermark, or saving past the free limits. Trying the agent and deciding it's not for you isn't grounds for a refund either. If a refund does go through, Pro turns off on that account and you're back on the free limits.
I know "all sales final" can sound harsh. With a $9 price and a free plan that lets you see the Pro design features on your own canvas, I think it's fair. If something is broken, email [email protected] and tell me what happened.
What's not in Pro yet
Google Play sizes and localization. Neither is in AppScreen yet. If you need them today, other tools have them, and I'd rather tell you that up front than sell you something you'll want refunded.
If the price changes
The terms say prices and limits may change for new purchases. What you've already unlocked stays unlocked on your account.
